Privacy Policy

This policy explains what MultiverseSocial (“we”, “us”) collects and how it is used when you visit multiversesocial.com or use its features (accounts, Solid pods, ChannelVault / CodeVault, the Newsstand and related tools).
Who we are
MultiverseSocial is run by Tony Swain in Canada. Privacy questions, and requests to see, correct or delete your information: contact@multiversesocial.com.
What we collect
- Account details you give us when you register or edit your profile, such as your username and email address, and the profile fields you choose to fill in. Passwords are stored in hashed form, not as plain text.
- Content you store in your pod and in other account features you choose to use.
- Server logs that every web server keeps: your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. We use them for security, fixing faults and measuring bandwidth. They are kept for about two weeks.
Cookies
- Sign-in cookie (
__Host-ms_sess): keeps you signed in. It lasts up to one hour and is not readable by page scripts. - Form-protection cookie (
__Host-ms_csrf): protects the sign-in and registration forms. It lasts up to two hours. - Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-L2W8XPC3DQ): used on our public pages such as the home page to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets its own cookies (_gaand_ga_…). It is not loaded on the sign-in or registration pages.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the sign-in cookie means you cannot sign in. Google’s own description of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
Pictures and links on the Newsstand
The Newsstand lists headlines from other publishers. Some story pictures are loaded straight from the publisher’s own website, so that website can see your IP address and browser type. We ask your browser not to tell them which page you came from. Story links open the publisher’s own site, which has its own privacy policy.
How we use information
- To run and secure the site: accounts, sign-in, preventing abuse.
- To provide the features you ask for: pods, code and channel tools, newspaper choices.
- To understand how the public pages are used (Google Analytics).
- To meet legal requirements.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your rights and choices
- Email us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have your account and pod deleted.
- Edit your profile and content through the site where that feature exists.
- Use your browser’s cookie settings, as described above.
How long we keep things
Account and pod data are kept while your account exists. Server logs are kept for about two weeks. Google Analytics keeps its data for the period set in our Analytics account.
Children
The site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
